Tribute to family tradition

Food waste is the theme of European Waste Prevention Week, which takes place from 16 to 24 November.

The municipality of Matosinhos will join this annual campaign, promoted in the European Union and in several countries with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of prevention and sustainable waste management.

Thus, starting tomorrow, the city hall will promote a series of activities involving practical initiatives to reduce waste, such as the construction of sculptures using food packaging waste, the preparation of meals from leftover food, a workshop on creativity and textile sustainability, a workshop on cooking without waste, a workshop on aromatic and medicinal plants, a play to raise awareness about the waste produced during the Christmas season, a swap fair, among others.

These activities will take place in several schools, but also in places such as the Monte S. Brás Ecological Park, Horta da Senhora da Hora, Lionesa, involving, in addition to children and young people, the elderly community of the municipality of Matosinhos.
