Matosinhos City Council handed over the keys to its new headquarters today to the Confraria do Mar

The Matosinhos City Council today handed over to Confraria do Mar the keys to its new headquarters in the old Chamber building in the heart of Rua Brito Capelo, in Matosinhos.
This is a new opportunity for the Confraria, which now has a place to continue its mission of preserving and promoting the gastronomic heritage of Matosinhos.
The choice of the former City Hall as the headquarters of the Confraria do Mar respects the city's roots and identity, providing a unique and accessible space for the institution's activities. The space will be dedicated to strengthening gastronomic culture and promoting the traditions that make Matosinhos a special place.
The mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, highlighted the importance of this new headquarters. "By choosing the old City Hall to house the Confraria do Mar, we honor the history of Pelotas while also planning for the future. This space will be a meeting point for the culture, tradition and identity that gastronomy brings us."
The new headquarters, on Rua Brito Capelo, will also be a place for the development of initiatives that strengthen the connection between the local community and its gastronomic legacy, fostering the spirit of belonging and the promotion of our traditions.
With this delivery, the City of Matosinhos reaffirms its commitment to supporting organizations that contribute to the appreciation of our heritage, while returning the historic building to the community to give it new life and purpose.
