MATOSINHOS AND HONG KONG STRENGTHEN TIES TO FORTIFY INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

10 Janeiro 2023

In a move to expand its international networks and reinforce its global positioning, Matosinhos recently welcomed Chris Lo, representative of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce. This initiative exemplifies Matosinhos' dynamic relationship with other cities worldwide and its capacity to establish strategic international partnerships.

The meeting, which included the participation of Deputy Mayor Carlos Mouta and Councillor for Economic Development, Trade, and Tourism, Marta Pontes, aimed primarily at exploring potential areas of collaboration between the two cities.

Marta Pontes seized the occasion to present Matosinhos as a privileged territory for investments, highlighting its strategic location, quality human resources, commitment to innovation and sustainability, modern infrastructure, attractiveness for talents, and strength of strategic economic sectors. Matosinhos intends to participate in various promotional events in the region such as the Food Expo Hong Kong, the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, and the Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference.

This encounter paved the way for future actions to tighten relations between companies in Matosinhos and Hong Kong, potentially creating new business and investment opportunities.

Chris Lo's visit is the result of Matosinhos' policy of approach to various international markets, based on a strategy of cooperation and partnership. This commitment demonstrates Matosinhos' stance as a global and cosmopolitan city, dedicated to promoting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and aligned with UNESCO's values.

Actions like this confirm the crucial role that cities have in promoting the spirit of international cooperation and achieving Sustainable Development Goals, positioning Matosinhos as an example of a city committed to building a more sustainable and cooperative future."
