Matosinhos Finalist for AHRESP Awards

The Rally Fish and Matosinhos.Come received nominations for the Awards from the Association of Hospitality, Catering and Similar Industries of Portugal (AHRESP), reinforcing the recognition of the significant value of gastronomy in Matosinhos.
The "Rally Fish", an initiative by the Municipality of Matosinhos, aimed to boost the local economy by promoting its gastronomy. With dozens of participating restaurants scattered throughout the territory, the project provided a gastronomic route that allowed customers to enjoy a snack and a glass of wine for just 3€. The public also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite snack. Rally Fish was nominated in the "Event of the Year" category.
In the "Solidarity" category, which rewards a project of solidarity or social responsibility with a great impact on the community, "Matosinhos.come" emerged as one of the finalists. This project arose as a response to the challenges brought by the pandemic to the catering sector. For six months, the municipality co-financed the home delivery service in Matosinhos and the neighbouring counties, through an agreement with the Taxi Cooperative. About 250 establishments joined the initiative, involving a fleet of 75 taxis and generating an economic impact exceeding 600,000 euros in Matosinhos' economy. Approximately 16,000 meals were delivered.
The Municipality of Matosinhos also provided 50,000 takeaway packages free of charge to about 150 restaurants and allowed the expansion of terraces and partial occupation of sidewalks adjacent to catering establishments. These nominations highlight the city's commitment to support and promote the local gastronomic industry.
