Digital Building of Architecture House

The Casa da Arquitectura - Portuguese Centre for Architecture launched the Digital Building. This innovative initiative consisted of three digital platforms that provided free and bilingual access - in Portuguese and English - to progressively digitized materials from valuable collections of renowned architects and artists such as António Fortunato Cabral, ARS Arquitetos, Eduardo Souto Moura, among others.

In addition to the Digital Archive, the Digital Building offered comprehensive information about the history of the Casa da Arquitectura over the past four years, virtual visits to exhibitions that took place since 2019, and also a new Online Store.

The aim of this project was to democratize access to the heritage of some of the most significant names in national and international contemporary architecture, making it accessible from anywhere in the world. This initiative underlined Matosinhos' progressive and creative vision by embracing technology to make the culture and history of architecture more accessible to everyone.

The launch ceremony was attended by notable personalities, including the Prime Minister, António Costa, and the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro. It was followed by a debate on the "Challenges of the Digital Archive", which included the participation of representatives from various internationally renowned cultural institutions.

The implementation of the Digital Building highlighted the city of Matosinhos as a center of innovation and creativity, promoting the interaction between culture, architecture, and technology.
