LeV

After a period of restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, which forced the transformation of the event into an online or hybrid format, LeV - Literature in Travel returned to the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library. This is an event that celebrates creativity and literature, fully embodying the spirit of UNESCO's values.
In 2023, LeV brought together a number of big names from international and national literature. With a total of thirty guests, this edition of LeV continued to be, without a doubt, a must-visit destination. Benjamin Moser, Alberto Manguel, Frederico Lourenço, Afonso Cruz, Lira Neto, José Milhazes, Francisco José Viegas, Carlos Fino, Tatiana Salem Levy, and Patrícia Müller are some of the names that brought with them a rich literary heritage.
The guests participated in various activities at the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library, including chat sessions, panel discussions, interviews, conferences, and even a concert by the Matosinhos String Quartet.
LeV is increasingly focused on young readers, with several visits to schools in the municipality of Matosinhos planned, for participatory sessions centered, of course, on books. Raquel Patriarca, Adélia Carvalho, Joana Estrela, Marta Madureira, and Cátia Vidinhas were some of the names that were in contact with the children of Matosinhos.
The children's program also featured Luísa Azevedo and the Óscar Silva Music School, offering moments that excited the younger audience, taking children on a journey between music and reading.
Reading is always a journey that only ends with the conclusion of a book, but there are always other books waiting. With the purpose of celebrating travel literature or the travels that literature inspires. LeV - Literature in Travel is a festival that traverses the universe of narrative, through the world and underworld of words and through the big issues of the present day.
