“se eu fosse mar”

Circular economy, production, consumption, community, and territory are highlighted themes at an event promoted by the Matosinhos City Council, aligned with sustainability principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim is to boost circular economy practices among the operators of municipal markets, customers, and the community at large, contributing to the building of a more sustainable future.
Participants in "if I were the sea" are invited to observe and experiment with responsible production and consumption processes, in addition to sharing solutions that inspire the local community to critically rethink and recreate processes, practices, and individual behaviors. By adopting these practices, we can all contribute to a positive impact on the building of a more sustainable planet, aligned with the UN's SDGs, such as SDG 12 - Sustainable Consumption and Production, and SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities.
"If I were the sea" stood out as an opportunity for artists and participants, like Xico Gaivota (Ricardo Ramos), to explore the relationship between art, sustainability, and environmental awareness. The open artistic residence at the Matosinhos market will result in the creation of an artistic installation made from materials collected from the beaches and municipal markets.
"Circular Market" is an initiative integrated into the project that promotes circularity and sustainability in practice. In this circular market, participants can buy, sell, swap, and experience circular products, services, and solutions, contributing to waste reduction and the maximum utilization of resources.
The Matosinhos City Council and its local partners are aligned with the vision of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which seeks to promote sustainability, innovation, and creativity to address global challenges. This collaboration contributes to the building of a more sustainable future, where local gastronomy and circular economy practices play a key role in promoting culture, sustainability, and community development.
