Food support

854 households in a situation of social vulnerability receive food support through a network made up of social institutions in the municipality
Matosinhos City Council recently approved the allocation of a financial contribution to the seventeen entities of the Network of Partnerships of Institutions to Combat Economic Precariousness (RPICPE), in the amount of 416,430.00 euros.
Since 2014, the city government has been developing RPICPE, in collaboration with several social institutions in the municipality. This network aims to guarantee monthly food support to all individuals and families in situations of economic vulnerability, based on technical diagnoses that ensure equity and speed in the distribution of resources.
Currently, there are seventeen partner entities of RPICPE, including the Social Works Association of São Vicente de Paulo, the Immaculate Conception Conference of Matosinhos, the Portuguese Red Cross - Matosinhos Delegation, the Lions Club of Senhora da Hora and the National League of Children's Hope - Renascer
The allocation of the financial contribution is based on the number of people supported by each entity, according to lists sent annually and technically verified, for a total of 854 households. This rigor in granting support guarantees compliance with the criteria established in the Protocol of the Partnership Network of Institutions to Combat Economic Precariousness.
The institutions in question can opt for two types of food assistance: monthly shopping card and/or monthly basket.
RPICPE operates with a single list that facilitates global monitoring of county resources and needs. In addition to food support, the network works to train partner institutions to ensure the qualitative and quantitative uniformity of the basic food baskets distributed.
